(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Later Closing Hours. The Labour Bills Committee, reporting on the petition of F. Sykes, of Christchurch, and 119 others, and E. R. Duncan, of Takapuna, and 334. others, praying that in the interests of all small shopkeepers the hours for closing shops be fixed by Parliament instead of by the Arbitration Court, referred the question to the Government for consideration. Hamilton Liquor Licenses. 14s it was a matter of Doliey, the M to Z Committee had no recommendation to make on the petition of A. Mcßae and 65 others of Hamilton, praying that additional licenses be allotted to the borough of Hamilton. Remission of Duty. Favourable consideration is recommended by the M to Z Committee for the petition of the Wanganui Trotting Club, seeking remission of penalty duty on amount owing as result of non-pay-ment of taxes due on their 1925 meeting. King Country Licensing. In connection with three King Country petitions, seeking the vote on the question of license or no license for the inhabitants of that district, the Public Petitions M to Z Committee had no recommendation to make, at is was a matter of policy. Private Petitions. Ivan Martin Curin, of Kauaeranga, Thames, has petitioned. Parliament for a retail wine licence in Hamilton. He claims that if he cannot procure the license his farm of 40 acres, which he converted from bush to a garden and orchard, will 'be sold by the Government mortgagee and Thames Building Society. The Defence Committee recommened consideration of the petition of Mrs. Mary Welsh, soldier's widow, praying for relief in lieu of the military pension. No recomendation was made by the M to Z Committee on the petition of C. W. Shadbolt, of Auckland, praying for an inquiry into the conduct of certain legal action, and for compensation. Liverpool Mine Idle. The Minister of Mines, questioned by the Leader of the Opposition as to the cause of the stoppage of Liverpool State Mine, explained that there was a good demand for screened coal, but extreme difficulty in disposing of slack coal had caused the mine to be closed on AVednesdas".
