BROADCASTING OF NEWS.

CABLE COPYRIGHT INFRINGED, A WARNING ISSUED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. Complaint has been made to the management of the Press Association that broadcasting agencies are , infringing the Copyright Act by issuing cable news to subscribers. , As the newspapers in New Zealand are paying some £40,000 per annum for the fine cable service the public enjoys, they must be protected against the "piracy" of their property, whether by broadcasters or any other persons. This, therefore, is issued as a warnins that such infringements of the law will be followed by prosecution. The Telegraph Department had promised that a clause would be put in the regulations drawing attention to the fact that the copyright of cables must be respected, but it was overlooked. This, does not affect the legal rights of the Press Association.
