ELECTRIC POWER BOARD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TB AWAMOTU, Frldaj The usual monthly meeting of th Power Board was held to-day, Mr. J. T Johnson presiding. I The local manager of the Bank of New (Zealand advised that the legal overdraft I iid the board for the current year Mr. J. G. Sutherland presented the statement of finances, showing the power fund account In debit £4848, and the loan fund In credit '£1591 1/8. Accounts presented for payment totalled £1612 2/3. Revenue for the month of June was: General lighting, £669 13/3; heating. £193 1/3; power, £237 11/1; penalties, £28 19/: meter rente. £52 7/10; approximate street lighting £36; total, £1209 12/5. For June, : 1925. the revenue was £675 3/8. I'he secretary mentioned that the average revenue increase for the three months ended June was £250 per month. The returning officer reported the result of the poll on Wednesday on the proposal .to borrow £2.">,000. The poll was a very ! small one. The total votes for were 174, I and against, 107. I Mr. Lethbrldge asked for an expression lof opinion as to the advisability of discontinuing the collection of a rate in 1927----i 28. He knew the rate was used practically as a non-users' rate, but the very i fact of a rate at all was causing oppo- ! sitlon. The chairman said that as a matter of policy he favoured a rate, preI ferrlng rather that the charges for power he reduced, especially on milking machine motor. After further discussion the matter was adjourned to a future meeting.
