CHRISTCHURCH, this day.
A shopkeeper named Martin O'Loughlin, who cold a packet of cigarettes to a lad. on Sunday, and retained 5/ of the change, found, in the Magistrate's Court this morning, that it was an expensive sale. He was charged with selling cigarettes on Sunday and stealing of.
The chief detective eaid that accused cold the cigarettes to a boy of 10, who tendered a pound note. The boy complained that the change was not correct, and was told to go home. The mother visited the shop, but accused denied keeping back 5/. Then a detective went along to make a. purchase, and accused admitted retaining the 5/.
Accused was fined £5 for Sunday trading and £5 on the other charge.
