N.Z. CRICKET TOUR.
FORMATION OF COMPANY
FOURTEEN PLAYERS TO GO
(By Telegraph.—Preta Association.) %
CHRISTCHURCH, Monday
Matters relating to the proposed visit of a New Zealand cricket team to England next year were discussed at a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council.
Mr. Arthur Sims wrote from London that the programme was being fixed up entirely by Mr. Swan, who had made very good progress. Altogether he had secured fixtures against Iβ of the firstclass counties, and would have no difficulty in filling up other dates. All counties would give one-half of the gross proceeds of the takings. It was not impossible that at the finish six'or eight counties would guarantee £100 eaehT Mr. Sims expressed the opinion that 14 men would be ample. He had been promised definite figures with reference to the cost per man per day in England.
It was thereupon resolved: "That the suggested tour be financed by tlio.incorporation of a company to be called New Zealand Cricket, Limited, with a capital of £80«0, divided into 1600 shares of £5 each; and that the Management Committee be authorised to take the steps necessary for preparing the prospectus for the said company." The secretary was instructed to "pencil" passages by a steamer due to arrive in England about May 1, The number to be sent was fixed at 14 players and a manager. ' ■
It was decided to recommend to a special meeting to be held on September 17 that the selection committee consist of three members; also that the council invest £500 of its funds in the shares of the company.
