At the Magistrate's Court at Hokitika, | Mr. W. Meldrum, S.M., convicted a' Maori, W. Flutey, charged with the possession of trout and native pigeons out of season. He thus vetoed defendant's claim of the right of Maoris to kill game between Mount Tuhua and the sea under the Treaty of Waitangi. The accused was fined 40/ and costs. A collision occurred between a motor lorry owned by Lovatt and Co. and a tram car opposite the Municipal Chambers, in_ Broadway, at 2.10 this afternoon. The side of the tram car was considerably damaged, but nobody was hurt. I
