PARNELL METHODIST CHURCH.
SEVENTIETH ANNIVERSARY. Special services were held yesterday to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of the Methodist Church at Parnell. The building was put up in 1556, and has recently been renovated at a cost of £140. There is no debt on the church at the present time. The Rev. J. Fletcher was the first minister, and was afterwards principal of Prince Albert's College. In 1865 the Rev. Dr. Morlev was minister,
and in 1880 the Rev. George Bond took charge, with the Rev. J. Girling as junior assistant. The Rev. T. G. Carr is minister at the present time at the age of SO years. He retired after 43 years' service, and for the last three years has had charge at Parnell. The morning service yesterday was conducted by the superintendent of the Sunday School, Mr. G. W. L. Robinson. In the afternoon a special address was given to the scholars by the Rev. W. T. Bhght, of Mount Eden Church. The Rev. T. G. Carr preached at the service in the evening.
