Francis Hunter (New York) defeated Jack Wright (Montreal) on Monday in the first round of the singles at the Seabright invitation tournament, 6 —3, 6—3, In the second round of the Seabright tourney Lionel Ogden (Leland-Stanford University) eliminated Norris Williams (captain of the. Davis Cup team), 6—4, 6 g, 10 —8, providing one of the year's most sensational upsets. Richards defeated Phil Neer (Oregon), g 3 ? 6 i; William Johnston defeated Hear'bert Bowman (New York), B—6, 6 i ; Manuel Alonzo defeated Bradshaw Harrison (California), 7—5, 6—3.
