SERIOUS LOSS OF LIFE. MANY SHIPS WRECKED. NEW YORK, August 2. A message from Nassau, Providence Island, says the number of deaths which occurred in the hurricanes, so far as is actually known, is 126. Four hundred people are missing. One hundred boats have been sunk. The damage caused to property has been estimated at £1,600,000. Eighty vessels of the sponge fleet were driven on to the banks when the hurricane struck them. It is believed that all of them have been lost, together with their crews of 350 men.—(Reuter.)
