Market very quiet on account or coal strike and no auction this week. Prices same as last quotations. Apples. New Zealand done except for few small lots ex Mahia. Stunner clearing 11/6 to 12/ per case. Hemp. Manila market is firm at the advance. "J" grade, August-October shipments, sold £42 and buyers. Sisal market quiet. Tanganyika No. 1, July-September shipments, quoted £43 sellers, but no buyers over £42 10/. New Zealand market continues quiet with little speculative business reported. High points £36 10/, fair £33 )/, but consumers not Interested. Oata. Market quiet. English best white old crop, 31/ to 31/6 per 3361b, otber qualities down to 27/. Only small business reported in oats No. 2 Canadian Western. July-August shipments offered 26/4_d, Plate, 21/6 nominal value. New Zealand (A) Gartons, 26/ per 320'b. ">eaa. Blue. Dutch hand-picked pressed for sale at 22/ per cwt ex store. Practically no inquiry Tor New Zealand and Tasmanian owing to inferior quality. Maple spot scarce and keen demand Tor float parcels. The New Zealand Produce Board has received the following market report rrom its agent in Canada, dated July 31, Montreal:— Butter. —33 cents (approximately 1/4 J.) The English demand is limited and stocKa are accumulating. Cheese.—l6J cents (approximately BJd.) The British* demand is 3low. Speculators here are 'active. In New York butter is quoted st 40 cents (approximately 1/8). Tbe trade anticipates a slight decline. In Vancouver butter is quoted at 34 cents (approximately i/5). for "extras." The market is qulot.
