TWO NEW TRAINS.
FOR SUBURBAN PASSENGERS.
SLTPLY LONG-FELT WANT.
A slight rearrangement of the suburban railway time-table has made it possibfe for the Divisional Superintendent for the North Island (Mr. E. Casey) to {five suburban passengers on the south lino two extra trains during the evening, hours. Commencing on Monday, July 10, a train will leave Auckland at -5.17 p.m. fbr Otahuhu. With the exception of Newmarket, this train will n;ake a nonstop run. "The effect of this new train," said Mr. Casey to a "Star" representative this morning, "will be to considerably reduce the time spent in travelling from the city to the suburbs. Tlie Department is bent on providing additional facilities for the outer , suburban areas, and the train at 5.17 is a preliminary step in that direction." Another new innovation is a train which will leave Auckland for Papakura daily at 8.10 p.m., leaving that suburb at 10.3 on the return journey, find arriving in the city at 11.12 p.m. For some time past an agitation lias been on foot to have a late evening train to Auckland from Papakura, and the institution of the 10.3 will supply a long-felt want. Previously it was almost impossible for city people to spend an evening with their friends in the country and pet back to their homes in reasonable time.
