ADVERSE TRADE BALANCE. The natural outcome of America's financial policy continues to be reflected ill an adverse trade balance, and despite dumping of exports on the one hand and heavy tariff barriers on tlie other, imports persist in exceeding the total of exports. The latest statistics published by the Government show that the total imports for April. 398,000.000 dollars, exceeded the exports by 10,000,000 dollars, whereas for the corresponding month of 1925 there was a margin in favour of exports of 52,000,000 dollars. During tlie previous month the adverse balance totalled 60,000.000 dollars. The movement of gold during April resulted in a loss to U.S.A. of 4,000,000 dollars. as compared with net imports during March of 40,000,000 dollars.
