SEAMEN'S WAGES.
REASONS FOR PRIVACY,
TWO POINTS OF VIEW. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. When the joint committee of shipowners' and seamen's representatives met to consider the question of wages adjustment, the seamen's advocate (Mr. W. T. Young) asked for the exclusion of the Press unless the whole of the proceedings were reported verbatim, on the ground that the men's side was never a≤ fully reported as the employers'. Mr. Page, S.M. (the chairman) granted the request, not for the reason urged, but because it was a round-the-table gathering, and he thought that the members of the committee would speak more freeely if they were not reported. \
