NEW YORK SUBWAYS.
STRIKE OF MOTORMEN. (Received 10.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 5. Motormen and switchmen of the principal subways of the city demand higher wages. What seemed to be the last hope of averting a strike of these men has been dissipated. The officials of the InterBorough Rapid Transit Company have declined the offer of the Transit Commission to arbitrate between the companies and the men.— (A. and N.Z.)
