SIR JOHN BADDELEY. » (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, June 28. The death is announced of Sir John Baddeley, a former Lord Mayor of London, aged S4 years.—(A. and N.Z.)
Sir John James Baddeley was created a Knight in 1908 and a baronet in 1922. He was Sheriff of the City of London 1908----1909, and Lord Mayor 1921-1922. Sir John was the author of several works dealing with ihe history of London, including "A History of the Sir John Baddeley Guildhall."
MR. W. V. ARCHIBALD. ADELAIDE, June 28. The death lias occurred of Mr. W. V. Archibald, formerly Minister of Home and Territories, aged 76 years. He was elected to the House of Assembly, South Australia, for Port Adelaide in April, 1893, holding the seat till April, 1910, when he retired. He was leader of the State Labour party from July, 1905, to July, 190 S. He sat Mr. W. O. Archibald in the House of Representatives for Hindmarsh from 1910 to 1917. He was one of the Parliamentary party to go to England at the invitation of the Imperial Government for the coronation of the King. He has been in several Ministries. «He was defeated in the general elections of 1919.—(A. and N.Z.)
