STRUCK GOLD.

NEW GUINEA FIELD. SYDNEY, June 28. Recent arrivals from New Guinea report a discovery of alluvial gold near Morobe. The find is in wild country 80000 ft above sea-'lev»l and six days' journey through rugged and precipitous jungle. The gold is stated to be a richer extension of a field which has been worked for some time. The gold is describd as ofJ'poqr quality, worth 52/6 an ounce. A considerable number of people have made their way to the field. The chief difficulties in the - way of developing the find are the scarcity of supplies and the difficulty and dearness of recruiting labour for their carriage. (A. and N.Z.)
