FULLERS' OPE*iA -OUSE,
At Fullers' Opera House this week: the cheery path of vaudeville is well strewn with bright numbers. After a i highly successful month's season by the Nigger Minstrels, the first half last evening was entirely composed of vaudeville] acts —all of a high quality. After ay Fullerscope, a British film gazette depicting the current world's happenings, Keith and Joan Dingley, a pair of excellent dancers, appeared and tripped several measures that delighted all those in front. A feature of the bill Is a spectacular juggling act by Thecia, and Earl Hunting. They throw hoops and clubs and other things about in the manner of the best jugglers, and have a number of most original stunts, the male , member of the duo gaining much applause for his work on an unsupported ! ladder. He sits on the top of the ladder ' and moves it about the stage with ap- ' parent ease. The tumbling act by Storey and Brooks is alone well worth ' the price of admission. In their turn, I which is labelled "Safety Last," they ' hurl themselves about the stage as if they were made of indiarubber, the ! while wearing looks of nonchalance and j occasionally boredom. Two members of the successful Nigger Minstrel Company, Ward Lear (blackface comedian)] j and Will Kenny, appeared in a ielight- ; ful patter act. They received a par-* ticularly warm welcome. Mr. Kenny's pleasing voice was heard in a couple of 1 numbers, while in between whiles they ran off a series of bright stories, quips - and gags, that kept the audience in a simmer of laughter. The new revue by i Con Moreni and his Silk Stocking • Revue Company is "Ginger and Pep," which comprises a quartet of bright and entertaining sketches, interspersed with songs by Cyril James, Con Moreni, Violet Lester and others. Con Moreni, j as usual, carried the lion's share of the! ' comedy numbers and was particularly; ' effective, in "Police," in which he ap- i peared as a constable on the beat, and also as the "heroine" in an hilarious ' sketch, "The Village Pantomime." The '■ Winsome Six twist pretty ankles in between the numerous acts. This week's nonsensicality is perhaps the best yet staged by Mr. Moreni. CASINO DE DANCE. The usual weekly dance will be held this evening at the Casino de Dance, Ponsonby Road. The Peerless Orchestra will be in attendance. COMMUNITY SINGING. Community singing is in full swing again. To-morrow will be "Onehunga Day" and it is anticipated that a big gathering of Onehunga residents will assemble to eclipse the large attendance! , of the rival suburb, Mount Albert, at the last sing. The singing will be held in. the Town Hall from 12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. under the chairmanship of Mr. J. E. Cowell, Mayor of Onehunga. The song leader is to be Mr. Drew, the solo- i i6t Mr. M. R. Ballance, and the accom- ' panist Mrs. Barrington Snow. i
