NO WATER PRESSURE.

FIRE AT HASTINGS. HOUSE AND CONTENTS LOST. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.* HASTINGS, this day. Early this morning an eight-roomed residence in Duke Street, owned and occupied by Mr. Guy Kochfort, was destroyed by fire. The brigade was handicapped by th» distance from the main water supply, and consequently the pressure at tht end of 1900 feet of hose was negligible, but they saved the outbuildings. The Rochforts escaped in their clothes, but practically all the furniture and other contents were lost. The out* break is attributed to a fire left in the dining-room and a probably defective chimney. The insurance on the house vrm £2000. and on the furniture and effecti £500, both in the Standard Office.
