DEFECTIVE GUM BOOTS.

BLOOD POISONING ALLEGED.

IS IT AN "ACCIDENT? -,

(By Telegraph.—Prest Association.)

WELLINGTON, this day.

Compensation to workers for blood poisoning., said to be due to leakage of cement through defective gum boots at Arapuni hydro-electric works, was asked for by a deputation from the New Zealand Workers' Union, which waited on the Hon. G. J. Anderson. Minister of Labour, on Saturday.

The Minister said he would look into" the matter. It would hardly come within the definition of "accident," and it was something new so far as his Department was concerned,, though probably the Public Works Department had had some experience of it.
