PIG BREEDERS.
ANiNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTCJN NORTH, Friday. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Pig Breeders' Association was held at the Showgrounds. Mr. N. P. Neilson presided. In moving the adoption of the report the president commented on the sound position of the association, which had a balance of £172. The pig industry was only in its infancy in New Zealand, but it w-as hoped that in the near future the industry would make, rapid strides. Mr. Neilson also stated that the importation of Berkshire pigs from London had been delayed, owing to the prevalence of foot-and-mouth disease in England. Mr. L. J. WHd (Feilding) moved: "That this meeting recommends the council to reduce the registration and transfer fees as soon as it feels able." In seconding the motion. Mr. H. Barnard (Cliristchurch) said that heavy fees retarded the progress of an association in securing increased membership. The secretary stated that the council had raised the subscription in order that members might get the Herd" Book gratis. It was desired to help the breeder improve his stock, and one sugges tion was to grant loans. He suggested that the surplus fluids should be used to purchase stock. An amendment, moved by Mr. P. Disemk (Cambridge), definitely to reduce the registration fee, was* ruled i out of order, and the motion was passed. Mr. N; P. Neilson was re-elected president Messrs. H. Russell and J.
