FEEDER BUSES.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Much has been made about the losses on the feeder bus services, but little has been heard why the losses are so great, particularly at Remuera terminus. In my humble opinion the bus there is of too great a capacity. A bus of 50-h.p., that can take 35 or more passengers, is totally snsuitable. All that is required is a light bodied bus of -6 or 20-h.p., that can seat about 15 passengers. The tfctal running and standing charges with such a bus would be less than half those of the present type, if the council provide for more passengers than exist in an area, why should the residents, be penalised for the council's error? Those with an intimate knowledge_ of Mount Eden and Dominion Road termini bus feeders, and passengers offering, will know whether the buses used there have too big a capacity. Of course, the road, conditions at Mount Eden and Dominion Road termini are fairly good, but the best that can be said for Remuera Road past the terminus to the city boundary is that it provides much work for city garages repairing springs and brakes, and helps to keep the second-hand market supplied with weliworn vehicles of low mileage.—l am, etc., LORRY DRIVER.
