NAURU PROSPHATES.
AN OFFICIAL INQUIRY.

In the House of Representatives the Prime Minister. Mr. S. M. Bruce, announced the terms of reference of the inquiry to be conducted by Sir Arthur Robinson into the operations of the British Phosnhate Commission at Nauru Island.
Sir Arthur will be asked to report upon the alleged inharmonious relations said to exist between the Australian, British and New Zealand Phosphate Commissioners, as well as between the Australian Commissioner and the executive and staff of the commission.
He will also be asked to inquire as to tlie extent to which these relations have affected (he interests of the commission in general and Australian interests in particular, and the extent to which they have contributed toward the decision of the commissioners to transfer the head office of the commission from Australia to Xew Zealand.
He will report as to how far the investigations of the Royal Commission support the contention of the British Government that harmony between the commissioners cannot be established as long as the present' Australian Commisiouer remains in office.
Sir Arthur has been enjoined to report as soon as possible.
