Beauty hunting is a nerve-racking undertaking, in the opinion of Ernest Lhmenkamp, a Viennese artist, who has been in the United .States since 1923, working on a commission to paint portraits of fifteen of America's most beautiful women. Eastern girls, lie said, possessed a more dignified beauty than the far-Western, who were more of an out-of-doors girl. He has this to say about Hollywood girls: '"In Hollywood, famed for its beautiful women, I'm afraid I found beauty only skin-deep among the thousands of girls who are there waiting for a chance on the silver screen at the bottom of the ladder of fame. I was amazed to find these girls only painted dolls, very beautiful, but dumb."
