SNIAFIL.
MANCHESTER MAN'S OPINION. (Received 11.30 a.m.) CONDON, June 16. Cloths composed of 100 per cent sniafil make a poor show at the Manchester artificial wool exhibition, but mixed with real wool these cloths are more attractive. A leading Manchester merchant expressed the opinion that the claims of sniafil were grossly exaggerated. He doubts if an English factory for its production will ever be built. The German product, mixed with cotton, is softer, brighter and warmer, and absorbs perspiration.— (Sydney "Sun.") Snia Viscosa (Societa Nazionale Industria Applicazioni Viscosa) is one of the largest manufacturers of artificial silk (rayon) by the viscose process, having factories in Turin, Pavin, Venaria Reale and Cesano Maderno. It also owns factories carrying on subsidiary operations elsewhere in Italy and controls the only company in Poland producing artificial silk. Recently it has undertaken the production of a new fibre "similar to wool" which it calls sniafil —that being the company trade mark and not a general name for the wool-like synthetic fibre. The Snia Viscosa Company has produced a new artificial wool, which will cause considerable delay in carrying out the original plans. The new fibre is distinct from artificial silk.
