A DAY IN AUCKLAND. ADDRESS B BARRISTER. The country Justices of the Peace numbering 24 had a day out in Auckland yesterday. They spent . a most enjoyable day with members of the Auckland Justices of the Peace Association and visited the important centres of industry. Last evening a general meeting of the Association was held at the Magistrate s Court when Mr. G P Finlav dehvered an address on the administration of the law. Mr. FFiFnlav stressed the value of common sense in deciding questions dependent on technicalities. Mr. J. W. Povnton S.M. then delivered a brief address. Both speakers were accorded hearty votes of thanks. Mr. Charles. Wheeler, the lion registrar reported that during the "six months since the annual meeting 50 ne.v members had been enrolled," the membership now being 575 ' The association had £200 on deposit in the bank and £40. 14 in the current account, He hoped that before long the association would have a properly equiped office and a good libraary. The council had recently derided that three executive officers should visit the country branches in the near future. It was also hoped that branches would shortly be formed in other centres.
