The wharf, it was explained, had been extended, the residents having contributed over £ 600 for this purpose, but at high tide it was often necessary for those going to catch the boat to take off their boots to negotiate that portion of the bay leading to the wharf. The re-grading of the top of Beach Road was also requested. It was stated that the residents in the locality paid £150 in rates, and further that 23 of the householders had signed the agreement for a supply of electricity. The council decided to get a report and estimate as regarda access to the wharf, and deferred consideration of the road in order that this could be undertaken during good weather. Cemetery Extension.—The Department 01 Internal Affairs wrote that the matter ot cemetery extension had been handed over to the Under-Secretary of Lands for consideration. This related to the suggested extension of the Anglican cemetery, and the council's questions arising therefrom as to whether the Birkenhead Domain Board could lease, give, or otherwise use any portion, or the whole, of the domain area in Glenfield Road for cemetery purposes.
