FAMOUS HOUSEHOLD REQUISITES.

TANIWHA SOAP, SYLVIA STARCH, SANDSOAP. As might have been expected, the Taniwha Soap exhibit once again makes a feature of the Winter Show. The radiant lighthouse of last year is not on view, and this caused much disappointment to many of the regular attendants at the show; but with its recognised advertising enterprise the company has installed in its place a most ingenious electrical machine, which artistically displays the many virtues of Taniwha. And speaking of virtues, by the way, it may be interesting to note that at the big Dunedin Exhibition Taniwha had the proud distinction of getting away from all other exhibits with a First Order of Merit. This is something to be proud of, because Taniwha is made in New Zealand by New Zealanders and from New Zealand products, and most of the tallow used is bought in the Auckland province. Apart from the patriotic aspect, however, it is now recognised that the name of Taniwha stands for purity. There is no deleterious substance in this soap. It can be used to wash the baby or shave the father. It will clean floors or wash the daintiest fabrics with equal efficiency. It is rightly claimed for Taniwha that it leaves the skin soft and supple; it preserve fine linen; it lathers quickly, thus saving labour in rubbing; it cleanses quickly and saves time and money. On the other hand, it does not dry or shrivel the skin, or injure the clothes, and does not deceive the careful housewife because it gives full soap value. Many soaps contain chemical adulterants which are added to make the cost of production lower, but these cheap lines only help to ruin clothes and injure the complexion. Therefore, when it is possible to get the very best on the market at a price which can withstand all competition, why not buy Taniwha? The same may be said with regard to Sylvia Starch, another famous product of the Union Oil, Soa». and Candle Com-

pany, Ltd, .Auckland. Housewives throughout New Zealand are rapidly coming to a realisation of the fact that Sylvia Starch is not only economical in every way, but it gives the best results for the least labour, and at the International Exhibition just closed at Dunedin the company secured another First Order of Merit for this product. It is important for housewives to note that Sylvia Starch is manufactured from pure rice, and consequently it is realised that it surpasses in every respect starches made from maize, wheat, etc. The Taniwha Disinfectant Sandsoap was prominently displayed on a separate stall, and special attention was drawn to the fact that it was not a cake of sand, but "sandsoap." On account of its quality and the many scouring purposes for which it can be used in the home or factory, it is becoming deservedly popular.
