MOTORING PROSECUTIONS.
ANOTHER LONG LIST. (Before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M.) For speeding, Harold N. Jones and R. Sandfora weTe each fined £2 and costs. The former drove at 32 and the latter at 33 miles per hour. Using a motor bus without having an endorsed certificate cost G. H. Boler 10/, while S. Buchanan, H. R. Kennedy and G. A. Lear were each fined 20/ for driving without licenses, the magistrate remarking that the penalty for this offence would have to be increased. J. Enwright, who employed an unlicensed driver, pleaded not guilty, but was ordered to pay costs. Mrs. Edith Lye failed to notify a change in the ownership of a bus, and it cost her 10/ and 11/ costs. For a similar breach S. D. Smith was fined the same amount. A breach of the Motor Vehicles Act cost John F. Rasmussen £1 and costs amounting to 22/6. Breaches in connection with lights resulted in the following fines being inflicted: G. A. Codlin, Ralph Flavell, Ernest H. Goodman, W. Harbutt, and N. Hopkins, 20/ and costs; and D. Barwell, G. W. Cooper, Dr. C. J. A. Griffin, J. S. Hope, Wm. R. Jones, Owen W. Hughes, Herbert Kane, John Kyd, Eric W. Ryan, George L. Sandford, F. A. Steig, Leslie Stoddard and B. S. Whiteside, 10/ and costs. R. M. Hoyes, who parked his car where it was an obstruction, was fined 20/ and costs, and Alfred Leslie, who rode his bicycle on a footpath, 20/ and costs. For leaving their cars unattended, Charles Clark, Frank Macky and N. W. Wheeler were each fined 10/ and costs, and Alfred G. Little, 20/ plus costs. Just before an express left the Auckland railway station recently, Percy Free and P. J. Williams pushed past a porter on duty at the gate without their having any authority to do so. They were ordered to pay 10/ each and the costs. For failing to obey traffic signals, G. H. Abdallah and Edward Brinsden were mulcted in the sum of 10/ each, plus costs, while Samuel Ford was ordered to pay costs. Doreen Mason was fined 20/ and costs for a similar offence. Leslie Hammond, who left a bus standing in Queen Street, was fined 20/, and R. M. Hayes, who caused an obstruction with a vehicle, were each fined 20/. H. R. Swan, who passed a stationary tram and did not sound the horn, was ordered to pay £2 and costs, while for passing a stationary tramcar while an old lady was alighting cost C. W. Walles £2 and costs. For pillion riding J. Wilkinson and P. Wilkinson were each mulcted in the sum of 10/.
H. L. F. Strange, for using a car without a license and having no lights, was fined 10/ and costs. Fl L. Mason, for using a dealer's car on Sunday, was fined a similar sum.
