HOCKEY.

NOTES ON THE GAME. ; The Auckland Hockey Association have a very busy time ahead, and in carrying out their programme, the cup fixtures are likely to be suspended for at least a couple of weeks. The White Horse Cup tournament takes place during the last week in June, and will be followed by the two games with the Indians on July 3 and 10. The first match will be played against Auckland, and the second Test follows. The Domain 'Cricket Ground has been engaged for both contests, and a record crowd for hockey is anticipated. i The Indian Army team keeps on winning matches without being seriously . extended. It was anticipated that Wellington would make a big fight, but I the Indians won by a big margin. They I have now played nine matches, and with the exception of Manawatu and Auck- , land, have practically "cleaned up" the ! North Island, although they play at Whangarei and YA'aiuKu also before the North Island is finally conquered. In the ; ten matches played the Indians have ] scored 104 goals, while only eight count them. The first Test eventuates at Christchurch on June 20, and the j second will be played at Auckland on] ! July 10. " I

It has been suggested Canterbury or Wellington should play for the Junior Cup, now held by Auckland, as a curtain-raiser to the 6econd Test match. It is probable that the curtainraisers for the India v. Auckland game will be arranged between primary representative teams. A contest between Mount Albert and Auckland Grammar Schools and the junior represenatives to be tried out against the country representatives. The At Home tendered' to the country representatives will be held in the Masonic Hall, Belgium Street, on June 29. The Auckland Hockey Association find it necessary to play three matches on eacii ground,,owing to the number of teams taking part in the competition. The Indian Army hockey team have played seven matches to .date, winning every game with considerable ease. The scores to date are: Waipa, 1.1-0; Waikato, 7-0; S. Auckland, 8-0; Taranaki, 7-2; Hawke's Bay, 13-1; Dannevirke, 20-0; Wanganui. 12-1; Wellington, 8-3; Nelson, 9-0; Buller, 9-0; total, 104-7.

The positions of the teams in the A.H.A. senior championship to date are:
