WOMAN DOG LOVER.

LETTER TO A VICAR. Canon M.A. Dodds, vicar of Chilvers Coton, Nuneaton, received a peculiar letter from a London woman following a motor accident, when his three-wheeled machine was overturned after it had run over a dog. His machine was smashed, and his sister was pinned underneath. He received a cut over the eye, but the dog was only slightly hurt, and ran off across a field. The letter was as follows :— "You have probably been over many other animals wlthou' Injury to yourself or your car, and I am afraid, as an animal lover, I must confess I am gratified that on this occasion yo-i did not er ape scot free. "Hope You Are Injured." "In common with most of the clergy, you probably believe that animals have no souls, and therefore you are perfectly Justified in mowing down any that come your way. "If you could not avoid running over this poor dog, I apologise for what I have said, but If you thought or hoped you could go over him without Injury to yourself or your car, I hope you are very badly Injured indeed—so much so, that you will never drive a car again and mow down dogs and dumb creatures because there is no law to protect them." ' The clergyman wrote a reply on a postcard.
