Commercial changed hands at 30/9, and National Bank of New Zealand at £6 19/6 and £7. For Union Bank of Australia buyers still offer £15 2/, and inquiry was made for P. and 0. banking stock at £9 7/0.

Insurance shares are as popular as ever ■ with investors. New Zealands sold at 40/ this week, and at the third call yes- ' terday up to. 40/3 was offered. Soutli British ara in steady request at 59/, but holders ask another -/. National Insurance shares are wanted at 38/9, with no sellers quoting". Standard Insurance buyers advanced their offers 1/ this week, but 50/ did not disclose a seller. Taupiri Coal shares firmed in price this week, sales being made at IS/G and 18/9, while Waipa Collieries were transferred at 13/6. Buyers still steadily offer 47/0 for shares in the Pukemiro Collieries, but no seller has quoted. Goldsbrough Mort Company shares firmed to buyers at 49/3, and for Dalgety Limited £1.3 18/ was offered yesterday afternoon. Farmers' Auctioneering are still wanted at 70/, and Farmers' Fertilisers changed hands at £5 3/ and £5 1/6. Sales took place of Hurldart Parker Steam shares at 44/0, and of Dominion Pictures at 20/. Auckland Gas changed hands at 23/10, and the contributing issue sold at 8/8. Kauri Timber, ex div., are wanted at 32/, and National Timber had sales at 17/. A number of transactions took place in Wilsons Cement at 34/6, which figure could still be got. Woollen Company shares are receiving a little attention, £0 7/6 being now offered for Wellington, and 13/3 for Kaiapoi. British Tobacco shares firmed to buyers at 52/. and inquiry was made for Burns, Philp, Ltd., at 36/3. Donaghy's i Hope could be placed at 31/0, and Gear .Meat at 3s/. Grey and Menzies, Ltd., shares were offered at 13/ yesterday afternoon, which brought in a buyer at 12/. Kempthorne Prosser Drug maintained the advance, being wanted at 69/ and 48/0 for the respective issues. Sanford Limited ordinary shares firmed this, week, several lines changing hands at 21/3, at which figure there are still buyers for both issues. Mining shares showed improvement towards the end of the week. Moanataiaris, after selling at 1/7 and 1/8, are now wanted at 2/. New YVaiotahi shares sold from 1/5 to 1/8, and Ohinemuri Mines had a sharp rise from sellers at 2/9 to sales at 4/0 yesterday. Kawarau; sold from 7/6 to 7/1 to 7/3, and Alburnias from 0/1 to 5/9. A sharp rise [ took place, in Lucky Shots yesterday , owing to gold being seen in the Reuben , Parr reef. A week ago these shares were , offered at lid, but yesterday 1/10 was , paid, after which sales, were made at '. 2d less.
