OUR FOOTBALL COMPETITION.
THE SOCCER APPRAISAL. EPSOM RESIDENT WINS £5. The fifth of the series of football competition's conducted in the "Star" Sports Special related to the senior Soccer matches played last Saturday. A peculiarity of the games was tliat one of them resulted in a draw. This did not appear to be a great surprise to a very larje =ection of followers of the game, tor there were 120 competitors who predicted it, in addition to naming the riu'nt winners in the other two games. The unusual feature of the competition was that 60 competitors not only nominated a draw for the North Shore-Y.M.C.A. game, but they gave the actual figures correctly. 2 —2. On the other games, however, they varied quite a lot. Nobody correctly forecasted the three results in the actual figures, but one competitor gave the right figures for two games, and named the correct margin between the teams in the third, being so close to the ai.tual figtjes, that he was only two points out. The winner is Mr. Birkett German, of Hardington Street, Royal Oak, Epsom, whose forecast was: Thistle 5, v. Ponsonbv 2, Northcote 1, v. Trams 3, Shore 2, v.'V.M.C.A. 2.
