BANKRUPT GUMDIGGER.
SICKNESS CAUSES FAILURE. NO QUORUM OF C KKDITORS. A story of failure through his wife's sickness was told this morning by a bankrupt, Vicent Matulovich, before the Official Assignee (Mr. W. S. Fisher). Mr. Matulovich was represented by Mr. Adams, on behalf of Mr. Matthews. Only one of the creditor?. Mr. Lever, put in an appearance. A full schedule has not yet been filed. In a statement read the bankrupt sail that he was a Dalmatian, aged 53 year?, and that he had been in New Zealand for the past 29 years. Except for a short time when he was shopkeeping and running a boardinghouse he had been engaged in gumdigging. He was now residing in the Waiuku district, and h*l liabilities amounting to from £2Sti to £300. He had been married 16 yea r=. but his wife had been very delicate and quite recently her illness had cost him a great deal of money. The low prices offering for gum had also helped to bring about his failure. His assets amounted to a boat and fittings, valued at about £3 or £'.). The property on which he lived and worked for ;um did not belong to him. Arrangements were made for the sale of the boat. The meeting lapsed for want of a quorum.
