THE WATERFRONT LICENSE
.To the Hdltor.)
Sir,—Tn regard to the granting of the Quay Street license, I 'would like to say a word or two. Do your readers know that for days before the Licensing Court sat it was openly stated in Queen Street that the license would be granted V Mr. Thompson, who had sought the support of the Alliance and could not vote for the granting of the license, was in Wellington, and the. license was granted. I, in common with many others, asked the electors to return the old committee who refused the license six months ago. Why does the member of the committee who voted against the granting, if one did vote against it, not follow the chairman and dissociate himself from the finding, for if he does not he must be included with those who apparently without reason reversed their decision? Ido not agree •vith the Rev. Fletcher that the committee who granted the Quay Street license should hide their heads, as many would like to look on the men who they feed have misused a trust reposed in them.—l am, etc., W. ROSS.
