BEAUTY SPOTS.

(To the Editor/) Sir.—The public of Auckland muse feel grateful to the City Council and private dollars for the number of beauty spots they have created throughout the city. Take, for instance, Myers Park and all those ugly corners that have been converted into wardens. There is still an opportunity of further benefiting the city in this direction, and that is by obtaining all the vacant allotments at the top of the Cemetery Gully. I understand the city already owns a large piece of land in this locality with frontage to Upper Symonds Street and running right back to some of flip vacant, land that runs down towards the gully from the Graf ton Road side.

I notice a letter in the "Star" advocating the construction of a road through to Xewmarkpt via Olonsiflo Crescent, and it appears to imp that these two schemes would work well together. If the vacant land referred to above were obtained by (he city they could make this road not only useful, but ornamental, and have civic howling greens, and tennis courts, etc.. which could he made self-supporting by moderate foos being charged for the use of the same.—T am, etc., CITIZEN.
