POULTRY SHOW.

600 BIRDS AT ONEHUNGA. OFFICIAL OPENING TO-NIGHT. The ninth annual show of the Onehunga Poultry Club was staged this afternoon in the Foresters' Theatre, Queen Street, Onehunga. The official opening will take place this evening at seven o'clock, when the ceremony will be performed by Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., and Mr. J. E. Cowell, Mayor of Onohunga. The show will be continued to-morrow evening. Six hundred entries were received, and the birds have been housed so as to allow all of them to be seen. This year there is a record number of Old English Game, but the entries in bantams and canaries are fewer as compared with last year. Black Orpingtons, Silver Wyandottes and White Leghorns are once again the strong features among the utility breeds. The fowls, although not in such large numbers this year, are of better quality. To-morrow morning the senior children from the Onehunga and Te Papapa Schools have been invited to visit the show under the charge of their teachers. In this way it is hoped to create an interest among the boye of the district. The North Island championship for fancy ducks was won by Mr. H. Harrison. The cup for the best canary and the cup for the best Yorkshire both went to Mr. E. S. Byers. The judges were —Fancy, Mr. J. ixon; utility, Mr. W.
