RIFLES FOR RUSSIA.
SHOOTING FOR THE YOUNG. LONDON, June 9. The Riga correspondent of the "Times" says that the Soviet has contracted with a German firm to supply unlimited quantities of small calibre rifles for thirty roubles each to facilitate private practice all over Russia. The newspaper "Izvestia'' declares it is intended to encourage rifle clubs even more than formerly, which is the surest method of militarising that portion of Russia, comprising oue-fith of the land surface of the world, and 140.000.000 people, under Soviet rule. — (A. and N.Z.)
