TEACHING OF AGRICULTURE.
POOR PROVISION IN AUCKLAND MOVEMENT TO IMPROVE IT. Strong comment upon the lack of provision for agricultural education for boys in Auckland was made to-day at the annual meeting of the Auckland Fruitgrowers' Council, Ltd. A letter from Mr. G. J. Park, principal of the Seddon Memorial Technical College, stated that the Technical College Board had decided upon an endeavour to promote greater interest in secondary school agricultural work by promoting an agricultural advisory committee to make recommendations for improving and extending the work of the college. The board proposed to ask for representatives to attend from the A. and P. Association, Young , Citizens' League, the Auckland Provincial Farmers' Union, the Wool. Seed and Manure Merchants' Association and the Fruitgrowers' Association. Captain .7. A. I-ambden, who had experience as an agricultural instructor in Australia, leinarked that the need of improvement was very urgpiit. TT P considered that nothing* of value could h<> done without a farm for t lie practical training of boys. Mr. ('. Hailantinc: T think every farmer would support this movement. ' Other members also expressed their approval, and Captain Lambden was appointed the association's representative.
