STATE DEFICIT LIKELY. The accounts for eleven months or Hie State pive every indication that a heavy deficit will be shown at the end or Hie year (says the Sydney "Morning: Herald ,, ). For eleven months De expenditure exceeded the revenue by £1.500,000. Income tax. however, has not yet all been received. U It is up to the expectations or the treasurer there is £1.300,000 to come in this month. That win reduce the deficit excess or expenditure to £500,000, supposing that, leaving: out of account the income tax. the revenue, and expenditure of the month balance. There is, however, a transfer or land revenue to the public, work? account to be made or £360,000. according to the i>stima;e or the treasurer The probabilities are. too, that the expenditure or the month will exceed the revenue, excluding- the income tax, and allowing , £80,000 on this account as the average or preceding months, there would appear to be a probability or a deficiency of £900,000 at least. Any excess or income tax revenue beyond the anticipations or the treasurer would, or course, reduce this anticipated deficit.
