A mistake by V.M.'s right back saw Heyes miss an easy chance, and Lewis cleared twice in succession. At this stase Shore were having the best of matters. Gerrard's long clearing kicks being effective. Humphreys came back and helned V.M.'s defence, saving a critical situation. Later on Lucas saved brilliantly from Woolley and Palmer. Dick let Y.M. away. and Humphreys was nearly through. Passing to Mellor the .alter shot over. Shore returned, and Gebbie miss-kicking, nearly let Woolley in.
