KENDAL WINS STEEPLES.
OUTSIDER WINS YORK HANDICAP
The winter meeting of the Auckland c Racing club was concluded at Ellerslie i to-day in fine weather. There was a , large attendance. The going was fairly a good. Results:— I TAMAKI STEEPLECHASE HANDICAP, of 500sovs. About two miles and a half. 2—GREEKSON, eh g, aged, by San Francisco—Greek Maid (Mr. Thos. Sheehan), 10.8— R. E. Thompson 1 ' I—PETER MAXWELL, bg, aged (Mr. ; L.J. Hyde), 11.12 —Rennie 2 - 4—H.OKIOI, b g, oyrs (Mr. R. Hannon), 10.1—Mason 3 ' Also started: (3) Sansalino 9.0, (5) ' Stonewall 9.0. l Hokioi led over the first fence from 1 Greekson, Stonewall, and Peter Maxwell, Sansalino falling. Passing the stand Hokioi was still in charge from Greekson, ' Stonewall, and Peter Maxwell. Along the i back Greekson was still in front, but Hokioi again ran past him, and led up the hill from Greekson, Stonewall, and Peter Maxwell. Hokioi was first over the fences on the hill, but coming down Greekson ran up , to him and led into the straight from Hokioi, Peter Maxwell, and Stonewall. Once ' over the last fence Greekson drew out to , win by four lengths from Peter Maxwell, who beat Hokioi by three-quarters of a length. Stonewall was last. Time, 5.15. Bizarro, Star of tbe East and Tinohoro were the early leaders. Passing the stand Tinohoro was in charge from Tapuhi, Prince Abbey, Marble Crag, Star of the East, Tinopono, Rangatahi, Tres Bon, Pepin, and Glenidle. Tinohoro led along the back from Star of the East, Rangatahl, Tinopono, Bizarro, Glenidle, Prince Abbey. Tinohoro led across the top from Rangatahl, Marble Crag, Glenidle, Pepin, and Flowing Bowl. Rangatahi waa tbe first to run for home, from Tinohoro, Glenidle and Flowing Bowl. Once over the last hurdle Rangatahi went on to win by a length from Glenidle, wihlch beat Flowing Bowl by two lengths and a-balf. Tinohoro, Marble Crag, Pepin, Criss Abbey were next. Zircon, Mount Marta, Karamu, Tinopono, Star of the East, and Bizarro fell. Time, 3.36. W. Rowe, rider* of Karamu, and A. Gilmer, rider of Mount Marta, both had their collarbones brpken. Tresham was the first to show out from King Lv, Matinee and Merry Damon. Along the back Master Doon was attended by Charlady, Matinee, King Lv, Zaragoza, Queen Emerald and Quincoma. Crossing the top, Master Doon was in charge from Charlady, Queen Emerald, Zaragoza, Nippy and King Lv, with Danae heading the I others. Merry Damon was the pilot into i the straight from Charlady, Queen Arch, Lomint, Zaragoza, Lord Star and Danae. ' At the distance Danae came through, to ' win by three-quarters of a length from • Queen Arch, which beat Passionate by a , head. Quincoma was fourth. Then came Lord Star,, Charlady, King Lv and Master. Doon. Time, 1.49 2-5.

Pendennis led past the stand from Birkenella, Peter Amans, Kendal, Royal Abbey, Mahgoloire. Erie, Glenotus, Llewellyn, Pittsworth? and Dick. Pendennis and Kendal led np the hill from Peter Amans. Mahgoloire, Birkenella, Royal Abbey. Erie. : Dick. Glenotus, and Pittsworth. When tbey came past the stand aorain Pendennis and Kendal were still the pilots, well clear of Peter Amans. Mahgoloire. Birkenella. Royal Abbey. Llewellyn, Erie, Dick, and Pittsworth. Along the back Pendennis and ' Kendal were still on terms, followed by Peter Amans. Llewellyn. Mahgoloire. Going up tbe hill Glenotus ran into third rtace behind Pendennis. Kendal. Royal Abbey. Mahgoloire, Peter Amans. Frio. Dir-k. and Birkenella following Pendennis. Glenotus nnd Mahgoloire fell nt one of the fences on top of the hill. This left Kendal well dear of Royal Abbey. Llewellyn. Peter Amnns and Birkenella being next. When over the last fence a sood race between Kendal and Royal Abbey resulted in Kendal winning by three-quarters of a length. Royal Abbey beating Llewellyn by six lengths.
