FATE OF OLD MAN AND SEMI-BLINU I WIFE. ! L'SUAPPY LIFE. A blind old-age pensioner. William Cham, aged S5. and his wife. Elizabeth, aged "-. who was partially blind, were found deaa in the ruins of their house In ChurrD Place. Victor Street, Grimsby, which was destroyed by fire. The man had apparently been asleep when the 9re started, as his body was found iv the wreckage of the bed on toe zround floor. It had fallen from the room above when the house collapsed. The woman was In the pantry, and ber skull was smashed In. It is snrmlsed that her Injuries were caused by tiles when the roof crashed. Arcordlns to the neighbours, the oin .■onple had not lived happily, and bI?D words were heard during the prevlons night. The man was a teetotaller, but tils wife was addicted to drink, and quarrel* were frequent. She often became violent, and on taof* occasions her husband would drive her Into the pantry and look the door, keeping her a prisoner till she became calmer. The fire was discovered by a neighbour, bet when the flretoen arrived it wja Impossible to enter the house, the flamps being so fierce. This was the second fire ftt the house vithin three months.
