GLIMERICKS.
The inflow of Glimerieks continues steady, this weeks tally being a little over a hundred. Most of them bore signs of originality, and though some balked a little in their rhymes, on the whole the writers showed a sense of humour and of rhythm. Some sent in last week's Glimerick' with the missing worrJs added. That is not the idea. It is assumed that all will be able to supply the line-endings, and the weekly prize is offered to the best original verse. This week's prize falsifies the prediction of its writer, and goes to Miss Bertha Norton, 15, Wood Street, Ponsonby. It reads: There was a young girl of this . . . Who thought she was clever and . . . _ ~ „_, ~ (humorous) To the "Star" Glimerieks she . . . (changed round) But no five bob she . . . _ . ~ , . , (secured) To her mother she sighed, . . . (commiseration) Last week's complete Glimerick, when made into a limerick, read: Quoth the reservoir on Titirangi, "Sure the clouds must be holding a tangi, "'I was dying of thirst, "Now I'm dam fit to burst, "If you'll please excuse language so slangy."
