CITY FIRM FINED.

» A firm of boot manufacturers, Kelly and Rattray, for whom Mr. C. A. Snedden appeared, was prosecuted by the Inspector of Factories on a charge of employing a boy under the age of 14 to Work a rolling machine. Mr. Suedden, while entering a plea of guilty, urged in mitigation that the boy was only partially employed inside the factory. The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., said that the law was verj- clear and emphatic in respect of the employment of boys, and imposed a fine of £5 and costs.
