FALSE FIRE ALARMS.
CHRISTCHURCH'S RECORD. INCREASED PENALTY URGED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Of the fire districts of the Dominion, the district under the jurisdiction of the Christchurch Fire Board holds the unenviable distinction of recording the greatest number of false alarms. At last night's meeting of the board, it was decided to urge the Government to increase the penalty for a malicious false alarm to a week's gaol without the option.
