In that year a total of 2,439,144 United Statei automobile* entered Canada Tor purely touring- purpose*, as compared with 1,389,310 cars in 1984, Assuming; an average or rour persona per car this would indicate that the number or United States citizens travelling: in Canada during- the past season ecniaiied the country's entire population.
