The Xew Zealand Shearers' - Union 'haa drawn up demands for a*new award s for shearers and shed hands with sub- F stantial increases in shearerr wages. Following are the demands, and also the \ * present rates: — Hand shearers, 17/6, now 25/ per | a 100. with rations: machine shearers, j 8 32/6, bow 25/; Stud sheep at rate and a-half; rams, rain stags, and double : - fleeced sheep at double rate. Merinos at; ~ above rates, plus 7/6 for hand and 5/ ] t for machine- Sir shillinss to be allowed j if rations are not provided. I . Shed hands.—Pressers, by the week, j « £5 now £3 2/6. by the hour. 2/6, now! 1/10; all others weekly. £4 5/ and £3. | 17/6, hourly, 2/3 and 1/S. Cooks for 12 men or under. Zi. now £3 i 12/6. Cooks' assistants, £5, now £3, 1 Where there are over 12 men, cooks to ] * receive 7/6 per week for each extra j I man. The present award leaves this ; 1 extra allowance to an agreement.
