WENT "WET" AGAIN.
ABERDEEN TOWN COUNCIL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, March 2. Aberdeen Town Council, which; unanimously decided last December to have no intoxicating liquors at civic banquets or magistrates' meetings, yesterday rescinded that resolution by 16 votes to 14 given in support of the previous question. It was complained by Borne members that since the "dry" resolution was passed alcohol had been served at gatherings held under the auspices of two town council committees, and while assurance was given that this would not be charged against the ratepayers, members pleaded that the council should act consistently and banish strong . drink from their meetings, of whatever nature. Councillor Mcßae, the mover of the "dry" resolution in December, who opposed its 'being rescinded, said he had moved it to protect himself and fellowcouncillors from scenes at civic engagements, which were enough to make the angels weep. Bailie Beaton, ft temperance reformer, said members, with only one or two exceptions, had conducted themselves at banquets', even to his narrow and rigid point of view, as very fitting representatives of any public body. Members unsuccessfully urged that it would make Aberdeen ridiculous in the eyes of the world at large if in three months' time they went "wet" again.
