TAKAPUNA TRANSIT.
WO SOLUTION OF PROBLEM. COLLAPSE OF ELECTRIFICATION SCHEME. . Owing to the collapse of the Takapuna Tramway Company's electrification scheme the transport problem at Takapuna is at present in a very difficult position. At a meeting or the borovg-i counci last evening, when it was stated thai no intimation had been received frore the company indicating how it now proposed to continue its services, Mr. A H. Wilkie, suggested that, owing tc the present uncertainty of., transit facilities,, a sub-committee should be set up' to consider the question of adequate services. If the steam trams were taker off, and there were not enough buse; to cope with the emergency the resull would be chaos. In suggesting that the matter shoulc be allowed to take its own course, Mr C. Mackley protested against wha. In described .as the "severe overcharges' on the tramway buses. The Mayor, .Mr. J. D. Morison, sait that he had now been assured by tin manager of the tramway company thai the extra charges on the bus fares woulc be discontinued. After further discussion it was decide, to leave, the matter of transport facili ties in the hands of the Public Services Committee,.
