INTENDED SUICIDE.
BUT DIED FROM HEART FAILURE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. The inquest was concluded to-day concerning the death of Charles Nelson, a fisherman, of Lyttelton, who was found dead in his cottage on Saturday with a cord attached to a beam tied round' his neck. Dr. B. H. Gilmour gave evidence to the effect that on April 18 he made a post-mortem examination of the body. He found the heart in a condition of syncope.and the heart muscles in a. state of fatty degeneration. The other organ's were normal. ] The cause of .death was > syncope, due to emotional stress ,super : imposed on the fatty degeneration ofj the heart muscles. The Btress was caused by deceased's .preparation.for hanging. There was no sign of asphyxia. Th» coroner returned a- verdict. in> pMjcordance with the medical evidence.
